Reasons for CSR engagement in SMES and MNCS: a qualitative perspective

The purpose of this paper was to explore the reasons for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) engagement among Small Medium Enterprise (SMEs) and Multinational Corporations (MNCs) in Malaysia. research is situated within an interpretive approach. interview technique employed issue. Interviews were conducted with 8 firms including 4 SMEs MNCs. selected based on that are actively engaging CSR detail activities have been identified via their companies websites. Five themes emerged as MNCs: leadership styles, competitiveness, alignment company mission, vision, objectives, resource availability. From results, study helps researchers understand depth terminologies, differences between MNCs SMEs, factors would influence engage activities. Other than that, will help initiating programs workshops, seminars, training educate managers SME owners benefits CSR.
